안녕하세요. 문제를 풀다가 질문 드립니다.
while discussing with her boss, Jane got a call from a stranger.
이 답인 문장이 있습니다.
그런데 제가 궁금한건 동사 discuss가 전치사를 동반하지 않는 것으로 알고 있었으나 with가 있는 것에 의문이 생겨서 쳐보았더니, 'discuss A with B가 B와 함께 A를 토론하다'로 뜻이 나왔습니다. 여기서 위의 분사구문을 고치게 되면 while discussed with her boss,~ 라는 pp형태의 분사구문으로 쓰지 않고 ing형태의 분사구문 뒤 바로 전치사가 동반되는 이유가 궁금하여 질문하게 되었습니다.

1) discuss A; A에 대해 토론하다 discuss with ~와 토론하다
Jane discussed the problem with her boss. 여기서 the problem을 빼고 쓰면,
Jane discussed with her boss. (Jane은 사장과 토론했다)가 되는 것입니다.
2) While Jane discussed with her boss, Jane got a call from a stranger. 을 분사구문으로 바꾸면,
접속사 빼고, 주어빼고, 동사는 ~ing로 ; Discussing with her boss, Jane got a call from a stranger.
여기 분사구문에 접속사를 덧붙이면, While discussing with her boss, Jane got a call from a stranger가 되는 것입니다.
